About the 3.5L Shortstar V6
RPO Code "LX5", the 3.5L Twin Cam V6 was an engine offered in Oldsmobiles from 1999-2003. It was first used in the Oldsmobile Intrigue in 1999, but then also was the base model engine in the 2001-2003 Oldsmobile Auroras. It is a pretty powerful little motor. Designed off the base of the Northstar, this all-aluminum engine delivers great power and also tremendous fuel economy. It does exhibit the exact same head gasket issues as a Northstar V8 engine.
